Hear One Near and Think of the Other, de5036,  cd-r, edition of 200, September 2011, Dragon’s Eye Recordings, USA, artwork by Kimvi Nguyen.

A moment remembered is a moment anew. A collection of selected moments becoming the foundation and building of a new moment. A present moment rolling into and inspiring the next. A moment existing in-between the passing and the approaching, linked yet unique.

Hear One Near and Think of the Other (performance) was a durational work at MK Gallery inviting the experience and notion of a moment through sound, space and time. Two large spaces inhabiting a single speaker each, were joined by the performing mimosa|moize and a third space. Visitors were invited to explore and relish in the moment found both in each space and sound experienced within the gallery. Each gallery space served as an architectural extension to the ears of the performers, allowing sound positioning to both follow and depart from those moving within and around the gallery space.

Hear One Near and Think of the Other stands as a recent work in an ongoing interest in the notion of a moment. Originally a concept created for a live performance, this composition variation further explores the perception and interaction of a moment through sound specifically. In utilising the documentation of the previous performance, these moments passed are revisited through the act of listening and remembering. This process is to then form the foundation and building towards the creation of new moments, yet staying faithful to both the past and to the approaching.

Hear One Near and Think of the Other was originally realised as a one and a half hour performance at MK Gallery in 2011.

Shared Moments is an exclusive track for Wood, Dragon's Eye Recordings Fifth Anniversary, a free mp3 download. Wood is a gift from DER as a celebration of the label and it's current and new roster of artist's scheduled for release in the coming months. Shared Moments was created during the period we were separated for two months by sea and land, sharing different times. We decided to attempt to work on this piece using no communication about the work itself during it's creation process, and relied only on sound moments shared via email. Each in turn shared their sounds with the other, but only those sounds and at points where a desire of wanting to share existed. Moments were shared and imagination was mutually stimulated trying to understand the different worlds of sound experienced by the other. Equally this working process created difficulty, being a method far removed from our typical way of working, one normally of sharing each moment together in the same space and time.

live at unit 3.03, 32:12, de6007, mp3 free download, dragon’s eye recordings, 2010, usa.

Live at Unit 3.03 is a sequence of sound sketches that were spectrally deconstructed and reconstructed live, with intentions of engaging the listener with the space. Each sound used was mono allowing any stereo effect of movement perceived to be those created from the influence of the space itself. The nature of performing at Unit 3.03 is generally one of a more domestic gathering than that of a public event. This shared domestic-come-temporary-social situation creates an interesting interaction with the sounds to be heard coming from within and beyond this personal and intimate space. Interestingly, this situation also directs ours attention inwardly to the sounds that we carry with us and outwardly to the ones that people carry with them. This recording was taken during our very first live performance held at Unit 3.03, where we shared tea, coffee and cake, met old friends and new ones, and shared old stories and made new memories. Recorded on the afternoon of March 20th, 2010, at Unit 3.03, London, UK. Thanks to Dead Wood and Jonny Hill who also performed that day and to everyone who visited our home on that memorable afternoon. Also, special thank you to Kimvi Nguyen for providing the artwork, a gift on that day.

seiren, 53:17, mmr - 03, cdr, murmur records, 2009, japan.

>

Inspired by the image of the merging of sea and sky, mimosa|moize strives to create sound to 'depict' this visual phenomenon of the sea in the state of extreme stillness and almost indistinguishable from the sky. In attempt to extract the essence of the sea, Seiren is composed through harnessing the melodic resonant frequencies of 13 different seashells. The prolonged still sound and extreme low volume are the key features of Seiren as it is not a mere representation of the sound of the sea, it is, more importantly, a reflection towards the background sound in our surroundings that dives in and out our awareness and consciousness. What Seiren wishes to achieve is to integrate with the sounds that exist in the room where it is played into through speakers, and to direct our attention to the sounds that we normally neglect in our daily lives.
